This week we’re talking with another artist turned woodworker. Ashley Harwood started off as a graduate from Carnegie Mellon university and an installation artist, but soon found her way into woodturning to make some extra money. She started off in the farmer’s market and craft fair scene selling products. As a way to stand out at the farmer’s market she started demoing turning at her booth. From there she found her love for teaching, a couple great mentors, and has become a world renowned woodturning teacher herself. She talks to us about this and her incredible journey to being one of the premiere teachers in the field today.
Ashley is fairly new to Instagram jumping on board a little over a year ago and is sooooo very close to 100k followers. Her content strategy is based on showcasing her classroom and using Instagram live as a tool to bring people closer to the experience they have in her highly popular classes, and we’re loving following along with her business journey. She’s also on the cusp of launching a YouTube channel and travels all over the world to teach and educate all sorts of people in the world of turning. Needless to say, this show with Ashley Harwood was a blast!
